For example, my father called me today and he stated that my brother Paul did not put the DVD inside the case when he returned it. I asked him what happened, and then he told me that when he woke up he saw the DVD inside the DVD player but the case was gone. He was so upset thinking that my brother probably return the case without the DVD inside. When I called my brother he said that it was not the same DVD and tried to explain that to our father but he was not listening to him. My father yelled and interrupted him the whole time. Also, he said that my father started to talk about other issues and problems. It seemed that he misunderstood and got upset. My brother said he just hung up the phone and did not want to talk to my father. I called my father again and explained to him that he just misunderstands. He was upset and yelling. Technology in the policing field has revolutionized the way police officers go about their job on a daily bases. It is constantly changing for both the good and the bad, and helps to create a safer and better environment for citizens to live in. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is just one of the many technologies that have been discovered, and put into place throughout the policing community. Automatic Number Plate Recognition is means of surveillance that uses optical character recognition on various images and makes reading license plate numbers possible. They do this through the use of existing closed-circuit television, road enforcement cameras, or ones specifically designed for the task. This technology has been recently put in place through the use of toll collections. When a car drives through the Speed-Pass lane at the tolls, the camera takes a picture of the license plate, and links the bill directly to that drivers account to make the appropriate payment. Although this is a great use of the technology, the policing field has utilized this technology to look for non-law abiding citizens, and do their best to keep them off the streets. Not everyone feels great about Automatic Number Plate Recognition, and many are concerned about big brother watching them, and fear of government tracking daily movements, as well as error in the technology including misidentification.…

For example, if facial recognition technology becomes a mandatory technology for every law-enforcement agency in the nation, the technology will allow for each agency to communicate with each other on a wide scale basis. If an officer in Florida pulls over a man for speeding and uses his facial recognition scanner and gets to hit for a fugitive in Arizona; the action immediately alerts Arizona that their fugitive is now being taken into custody. This line of communication will be extremely valuable to law-enforcement agencies everywhere. It will open up the lines of communication and allow each agency to communicate with each other. Communication also plays a major role in making the technology. Agencies and the officers from those agencies have the best knowledge of fieldwork, therefore being able to put in their personal feedback to create the technology or equipment that an officer needs is extremely important. In turn, this allows the officers to feel validated by being able to communicate their needs for work in the field. There are many positive effects that technology may have on communication but there are also negative effects as…

Automatic vehicle license plate recognition systems are mass surveillance methods that use optical character recognition (OCR) on images to read the license plates on vehicles. License plate remains the principal vehicle identifier despite the fact that it can be deliberately altered in fraud situations or replaced with a counterfeit one (e.g., with a stolen plate). Recently, systems can scan number plates at around one per second on cars travelling up to 160 km/h. They use existing closed-circuit television (CCTV) or road-rule enforcement cameras, or ones…
