1.2 Good communication is the difference between a good and poor service within the adult care setting. Good communication between staff and other health care services is paramount to ensure that residents get the best care, for example letting other staff know a certain residents doesn’t like coffee only tea, prefers showers then baths, likes to get up after 8am then before It also encourages a better and happier working relationship.
2. Understand how to meet communication and language needs, wishes and preferences of an individual
2.1 The first thing I would do when communicating to a new resident is look thought their care plan to find out information like there preferred method of communication, this information can come from other staff who have already had dealings with the individual, a third party like family/friends and the input the individual them self. After reading their care plan I would speak to staff and get to know more and understanding of their wishes, needs and requirements I would then communicate myself with them and get my own understanding of their needs.
2.2 The factors to consider when promoting effective communication is mainly make sure both parties are aware of each other, Good eye contact and facial expressions are a main priority as you can tell and show a lot of things when looking at a face as you can tell by their facial expressions how they are feeling for example; looking down when sad, tensing their facial muscles when angry and smiling when happy.
