Class Dojo is a classroom management tool used by teachers to allow them the opportunity to keep track of student’s behavior, classroom participation, homework and other classroom activities. This is a Web 2.0 tool that requires access to a web browser, as well as internet connection. Class Dojo is intended for almost any grade level up to 8th grade. It is an interactive tool that allows access to not only teachers, but students and their parents as well. This medium is intended for any gender and subject or grade level, as it keeps track of scores, participation and behaviors. Although Class Dojo does not have any curriculum based standards, this tool allows for students to gain better classroom behaviors. Through …show more content…
I did not make any modifications to the rubric. The Authority section was a bit difficult for me to judge. According to the website, there is a group of three people, Chris O., Jenna and Blake, who are the team of people behind Class Dojo, which is a teacher led website. So it is not very clear who is the creator of the website, and at that, I cannot find an email, nor can I find a copyright date or other information of that realm. Under Affiliation, it is clear that the website is directed by teachers, but it is a .com website, so it is not supported by a larger institution like a .edu or .gov would be. The purpose of this website is very clearly classroom management. The sole purpose of the website is to keep track of classroom participation, grades and anything else that needs to be tracked by a point system which Class Dojo does very well. As for objectivity, this website is free of any bias and there is no advertising on the pages, that I have seen. To remain objective on this website, the students avatars are little robot guys with bright colors. The students can personalize their avatar to look what they would like, but it will remain a cartoon robot. For content, there is none on this website as it is a classroom management website. The only content that there would be, is to show students and give continuous feedback to how the teacher would like the classroom to be run. Learning …show more content…
This web 2.0 tool allows for teachers to have control over the classroom through a scoring process. I have seen this in use in a second grade classroom and how effective it actually was. When the students would hear an addition in points they would look up at the board, where Class Dojo was shown, to see how someone was acting and they would then model that behavior. The same would go for students who were getting points deducted, they would look to see who it was and how they were acting so that they did not act the same way and they would follow the directions. The strengths of Class Dojo would be allowing teachers an easy way to add up their participation scores. This medium allows for teachers to keep track of scores for participation, homework and classroom behaviors, whether it be adding or deducting points. I was unable to find any weaknesses on this website because it does everything that it is expected to have. There is not anything on this website that it says it should do that does not happen, and the basic principle of classroom management is what this website does. I did not find anything wrong or any troubles with what this website says it is to do, it is very easy to use and there are no troubles with
