What is classical conditioning?
Classical conditioning is a learning process of behavior modification in which a subject learns to respond in a preferred way such that a neutral stimulus (the conditioned stimulus) is repeatedly shown in association with a stimulus (the unconditioned stimulus) that brings a natural response (the unconditioned response) until the neutral stimulus alone brings the same response.

Robert Yerkes after becoming president of the American Psychological Association published Pavlov results "now widely known as the pawlow salivary reflex method". Ivan Pavlov classical conditioning theory was developed in the experiment with dogs. Where he presented meat powder as an unconditioned stimulus, which makes the dog salivate all the time, this being the unconditioned response. He starts pairing the unconditioned stimulus with the ring of a bell. At first the dog doesn’t salivate when he hears the ring of the bell but after he starts ringing the bell a couple of times and presenting the meat powder, the dog starts thinking he is going to get fed every time the bell rings. The bell is the conditioned response, if they play the sound of the bell the dog will salivate even if food is not present until he learns not to do …show more content…
This topic was my favorite topic of psychology because I see this things happen on a daily basis its interesting to know the reason behind how people minds work. Ivan Pavlov, B.F Skinner and John Watson are huge part of the history of psychology. Even though Ivan Pavlov was not a psychologist his contribution to the field made an impact. There experiments is the reason why we are able to understand classical and operant conditioning.
This two process are different but they both result in learning. Classical conditioning Focuses on involuntary and automatic behaviors, involves a neutral sign in order to gee the reflex. Operant conditioning Focuses on strengthening and weakening voluntary behaviors applying reinforcement or punishment after a behavior. I experienced operant conditioning growing up I just wasn’t aware of it. Parent use this strategy to change behavior in kids is also shown is schools where kids get a sticker every time they do something good encouraging them to do better. When it comes to classical conditioning it happens as well, when I used to work at Yankee stadium my boss would come with a fruit at the 5th inning everyday one day he didn’t and I was expecting
