In the first video at John Smith Middle school, on Friday, April fifteenth at 12 pm, the classroom observed was in Mrs. Blue’s middle school class. This class was not as ethnically diverse; there were only Caucasian and Hispanics visible. From what was shown there were eleven boys and ten girls. In the second video at Luther High school, on Wednesday, April thirteenth at 11 am, was Mr. G’s high school class. This was a larger ethnically diverse class, with ethnicity ranging from, African American, and Hispanic. There were relatively ten boys and eight girls.…

For my classroom observation, I chose to observe two classrooms with teachers I do not work with at my current job Bobbie Smith Elementary in Long Beach, CA. My area of interest is elementary, I chose to observe a Kindergarten and Second grade classroom. Although I prefer to teach a Kindergarten class and not go over the Second grade, I know that teachers never get a pick of what grades you teach sometimes. So I am glad that I am able to gain experience in each grade level.…
This object that is important to me is from my Pre-K teacher Mrs. Judy. My book is wrinkled and bent. It also has the aroma of Kindergarten every time you open the book. It is also titled Clifford the Big Red Dog Goes to School.…
The National Guard has to be called immediately, if there is the statewide disaster that means that the disaster should have the large scope and affect the state. The military involvement is essential to conduct the emergency management fast, effectively, and successfully. The National Guard may be called by the state’s governor in response to the emergency that civilian emergency services cannot cope with and when there is the threat to the public safety. For example, the flood and evacuation of the population may raise the problem of the transportation and looting. The National Guard may be called out by the state’s governor to ensure that the private property and civilians are protected from possible illegal actions, such as looting.…
The era’s dating back to 1636 have shaped the current contemporary structure of higher education. Throughout the years the landscape of higher education has evolved. The growing variety of higher education institutions, the array for curriculum changes and increase in the cost of education have created critiques and new proposals. The community college system grew during the 1970’s giving the opportunity for students to begin their studies by pursuing an associates degree or transferring to a 4-year university. One of the largest community college systems in the United States, the City University of New York (CUNY) consists of seven two-year colleges. The CUNY college…
It was obvious that Ms. Brown had created a plan for this lesson by observing the progression of the skills that were being taught and that they were presented in a logical order that aided student comprehension. Both the students and the teacher were familiar with the skills and the delivery. She also posts lesson plans online. Objectives and expectations of the lesson were communicated to the students on a special place on the board, at the front of the class with essential questions and " I can" statements. Ms. Brown was able to gain the students' attention for the lesson with a hook type activity. It was an engaging question for the student to answer that was related to the topic. Students worked independently, in pairs and in groups and read a selection either by themselves or with another student. The material was then presented in a graphic organizer by the teacher with illustrations and relevant examples provided by the students. They also read the selection (either our loud to a partner or to themselves) and then the material was displayed in the form of a graphic organizer for the visual learners. Ms. Brown used PowerPoint to present the material.…
According to the schools and staffing survey the elementary students in the United States spend an average of six or more hours in class for an average of one-hundred-seventy-five days a year, or more depending on the state. This is the schedule that persists for students until their high school career is over. After high school, students may attend community college which is a new experience to them. This community college experience usually acquires students to pay for their credits they gain through averaging a letter grade of D or better. Community college students are told to focus and this will help you gain the degree that will lead you into the amazing career of their choice. This type of college gives students the opportunity to gain a degree higher than an associates in education such as a bachelor or masters degree. It seems mind blowing, that is, the thought of accomplishing your goals through a little more schooling. What's more schooling to someone who has been in attendance since they were at least 3 years of age, it seems so simple. What these newbees don't recollect are the financial dues that will be needed to fund their college education. Most students come from public…
During my first round of practicum, I went to a kindergarten classroom with around 20 to 25 students in the classroom. I went to Miller Elementary and Mrs. Schuchard was my cooperative teacher. I walked in and was immediately placed with students to work with. In the morning the students were working on their daily five and phonics. One thing that I observed that I found very interesting is that the teacher had two rug areas for meetings. When she needed to teach the children for a longer period of time, she would tell them to move over to the other area in order to make them have a brain break and then refocus. It was very interesting to see how effective just a little amount of movement was for these kindergarteners.…
As a college student i have discovered that i like to have both options and security when it comes to my academics. As a formal student of Manhattan College i know for a fact that i am able to obtain both security and options. I am a student that like many, i have learned about the college life through many ups and downs. But being a part of the Manhattan College community i was able to see the passion that each and every professor has when teaching a class. I have also seen how school offers you opportunities that not many other schools do not. Although i am currently in Montefiore Medical Center taking an EKG class, i aim for to be part of the hospitals that Manhattan college is affiliated with; such as the New York Presbyterian-Columbia…
