As time went on The LACMA established itself in a different facility focused on art entirely in 1961, but it wasn’t until four years later when The LACMA relocated to its current location on Wilshire Boulevard. The permanent collection can be found in the Ahmanson Building. Special limited edition exhibitions are in the Hammer building and there is a 600 seat theatre for other programs. In past years, the Museum has also acquired the Anderson Building, Bruce Goff’s Pavilion, and other buildings to make up LACMA West. Many movies portray The LACMA such as the recent “NO Strings Attached”, “Beginners, “Miracle Mile” and “I Am Sam.” It also serves as a huge cultural component for the surrounding communities. This ranges from elementary school field trips to a spectacular resource for local college students and even as a backdrop for engagement photos and weddings.
The LACMA plays an integral role in the daily lives of the people and visitors to Los Angeles and provides an educational attraction for visitors no matter the interest.
