Since its inception, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) has been at the forefront of addressing clinical problems within student populations (Allen, 2011). Created by psychiatrist Aaron Beck, in 1960's, cognitive-behavioral therapy is an empirically researched therapy method that specializes in finding solutions to current problems and teaching clients skills to alter dysfunctional thinking and behavior ("What is Cognitive Behavior Therapy | Beck Institute," n.d.).
