You learn the importance of respect when you’re just a child. You should show respect everyday rather, it's a job, school, or your family. Yet star athlete Colin Kaepernick has failed to show respect where it is most deserved. By refusing to stand during our national anthem, he showed disrespect to our military, our veterans, and our country. Star athlete Colin Kaepernick, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, refused to stand for the “star spangled banner”. Unfortunately, this disrespectful act is not a one time occurrence. By not standing for our flag he is showing disrespect to our veterans; showing respect for them is the least we can do, for several of them gave up their freedom for ours. Countless are permanently injured, and several have died, but he says he can’t stand due to the fact that he feels this country isn't representing people the way it is supposed to. During 9/11 when rescuers went into that building they didn’t stop to judge the color of each other's skin, they just saved as many people as they could.
