College Admissions Essay: Why I Want To Attend College

I come from a family of six with only one parent who works as a painter. His income is just enough to pay for our food, bills, rent, and personal needs. Hence, I am aware that my parents won’t have enough to pay for my tuition or any expenses in college. Considering attending Houston Baptist University, a private college, I know it will be very expensive. For this reason I think about and stress over about how I will cover payments for college repeatedly. Out of all the reasons I wouldn’t be able to attend college, I don’t want money to be the reason why I won’t be able to pursue my degree. I am the second oldest of four but my older brother will not have the opportunity to go to college. This means I will be the first in my family to attend the university, making me a first-generation student. My parents did not finish school and did not go to college, they didn’t have the opportunity to get a good education and thus I’ve learned to appreciate and value my education. I want to follow my passion so I can pursue a career that I am passionate about, something my parents did not have a chance to follow.
