The stress of a video game goes past development; with EA demanding a new game every year, the athletes would have to go do promotional tours, film commercials, and do fan signings for when the game is launched. This takes away more time from the student’s studies. If athletes notice that they receive a payout for popularity, they’ll most likely kiss up to the fans of the school so they can continue to receive the popularity and the payouts that come along with it.
Athletes go to college to learn in order to learn and further their education, not to be in video games and have a significantly large amount of legal complications that would come along with the contract. With athletes in school and playing sports, their priorities become convoluted and they can forget why they went to school in the first place. Many student-athletes already receive scholarships and other benefits from the university they play for. With the scholarships and other money they receive, chances are the students do not require outside assistance
