Essay On Why College Athletes Should Be Paid
Today, college athletes are working every day, 24/7. These athletes are working day in and out to sure that they meet academic standards and also to keep up with their sport when they’re playing competitive. They not being rewarded or credited for their achievements. They are also living with no money. Since these athletes are living off with no money, they are tempting to take the money from their sports booster club or others donation that are helping them. The problem with this is that athletes are not only getting themselves in trouble but also getting their athletic departments in trouble as well.

school. The NCAA has this rule because they feel like if athletes are working for people with close ties to the school then they will be receiving special benefits. For example, the athletes are getting paid while they not working at all or to get a higher salary while they are not working hard as the others.
Another reason of college athletes working is time management.
College athletes have a very busy schedule when they finished classes and practice, they have very little free time. During those free time, they sleep or do schoolwork. Student athletes are required to take a minimum of twelve credit hours each semester and they have to pass at least nine credit hours. With these rules, the athletes are spending many of hours of studying or going to class. After studying and going to their classes, they have to go to practice. Going to practice takes up about four to seven hours a day. After a long day, the athletes only have a few couple of hours for them to have some down time like watching Netflix or sleeping. These athletes are also college students who are not getting paid for their commitments. They have to find time to put work in. When athletes are looking for a job, they are very limited to only have a couple of hours a day to work. A large number of jobs want their employees to be available to work on the weekends, this tough for an athlete to look for a job because they are never available on weekends because they are traveling with the team to
play. With college athletes not having time to work, money is very limited. When money is limited, they are tempted to take money from their boosters’ clubs. Taking money from booster’s clubs is a violation of the NCAA rules. When student athletes receive money, they are able to be suspended from their team. They also running a risk of the school being suspended from NCAA games and also scholarship money. The NCAA and the athletic departments need to remodel the system. Student athletes need to start being rewarded for their hard work and commitments for the college sport team. They only have a few hours to work to make money somehow. If athletes were allowed to earned money for their commitments, then they should be allowed to have some spending money to enjoy themselves when they have free time during their busy lives.
