There are extensive amounts of controversy in our society today, such as whether or not college athletes should be paid or not. Even though college athletes receive many luxuries they still have to make there own living and support themselves. As reported by “Pay or Scholarship” written by Teengagement, it states, “Athletes are employees because they work under the control of the college.” As many people know a business has employees, if an athlete can be considered an employee to the college shouldn't they be paid like and employee? Everyone in the world has expenses they need to pay -granted a college athlete has housing and meals and all that stuff- however many of them still need money to buy things such as: toiletries, new clothes, gas, and spending money.
As recorded by “Pay or Scholarship” by Teengagement they state “Ultimately, sports isn’t just about a love of the game, even in college. It’s about business too.” This implies that most college athletes do not play sports just for having a good time, but to start their life. This also means that a college athlete may love the sport they play, however it is also about their future in that sport. Overall, playing sports isn’t only about the game but the overall building of a person, preparing them for the real world after college.

On the contrary, some people think college athletes should not be payed due to the extensive amounts of financial help already given. This point makes sense because a college athlete receives many things connected to their scholarship such as: tuition, books, meals, housing, uniforms (depending on certain sport), etc. However, all scholarships are not full you can receive a partial scholarship, therefore leaving the rest of the pay to you.
