A Hero
Since my days as a youngster, I found myself fascinated in Saturday morning action cartoons, fantasy novels, comic books, video games and Japanese manga and anime. I’d stay up all night reading Superman and would wake up early to watch Power Rangers on Saturday mornings. And man did I watch it all, read it all; everyday all day, inspiring me even today. And despite my families distain for it all, I embraced it; the lore behind it all, especially the ones about superheroes. I find the whole mythology surrounding superheroes captivating, well just heroes
For all my life I wondered what it was like to be Superhero and when I finally got my chance, the feeling of it all …show more content…
The best part of it all is that I’m not alone. My best friends are always by my side, fighting crime together with cheesy sound effects like BIFF BAM
POW! Together we would face our arch nemeses together, save civilians from mortal peril and be the heroes we were meant to be, we’d like to think ourselves as the Justice League or the X-
Men.
Some days while protecting the peace I wonder if I truly live up to word “justice”, if I just “hero around” for the thrill of it or if it’s because it’s the right thing to do. And sometimes I fear for myself if my justice goes dark and one less super villain appears each day. So much power in a man’s hands really does come with great responsibility. Yet despite being hero, I have never once wore a costume; an aspect that puts me apart from the others. In the immortal words of Bill played by David Carradine from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol.2 “Superman didn’t become Superman. Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he’s Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent.” My outfit with an emblazoned emblem, those are my clothes. When I wear the jeans, t-shirt and hoodie - that’s the costume – the very same I use to blend in with
