Essay On Being A Hero
“A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead and overcomes it anyway”-Christopher Reeve. Some people think that a hero can be anywhere from an everyday person who holds the door, to someone who saves a life . A hero is someone who is confident and courageous, even if the challenge at hand is difficult.

George Washington is a great example.”He ordered the remains of his army to retreat and then go across the Delaware River into Pennsylvania”.This shows that he was brave and confident the plan would work and courageously sent his men to retreat. Even though he had been losing all of his battles, he wouldn’t give up. A camper did something brave as well. “Staying on with the remaining to do what he could”. He helped his friends who were attacked by a bear. They could of died is he wasn’t confident and brave to helping them. Although there are many different heroes in the world, there are some people who are not heroes.

Many people people give up, which doesn’t make them a hero.“ My eyes were completely damaged and I was in a lot of pain”. Many people are in hospitals, but that doesn’t make them a hero, in fact, most of them give up. He wasn’t confident or courageous while in the hospital. “I was just doing my job”. He wasn’t very confident about anything because he was only doing his job. He wasn’t courageous because he had nothing to lose or give up on, and that is not a hero. Some people are not very confident or courageous, but many people are, making them

Often people have to endure tests of character in order to prove who they are. It is when people have to face great opposition that their character is truly shown; we see whether people are heroes or cowards. Those who are heroic always stand up for their morals and never back down and do selfless acts for the good of others. When people encounter moments where they have to face opposition they can do either of two things; they can stand up for what they believe in and do what they think is the right thing to do, or they can sit back and let someone else do it and simply try to ignore the problem. The ones who always stand up for what they believe are the people who are true heroes. People who have a heroic character will constantly rise up and speak out loud when they see that something wrong is going on. The people who are heroes are incredibly important to society, because they are the people who work for a better tomorrow; they are the people who are willing to sacrifice themselves for something better.…

The definition of hero varies among people but, in my definition of a Hero is a person who is able to achieve the difficult task regardless of the resistance of society or sacrificing themselves in risky situations. A hero is not a person who is easily scared, gives up easily and selfish. In my opinion, when people are described as “hero” we neglect their bad behaviors, but this doesn’t imply to every hero we should be aware of such things because we all have our own flaws.…

Heroes are brave. They put their life on the line to save others. An example of this happened on December 3 when state trooper Michael J. Miles saved an unnamed 3 year old boy from his abductor, Michael Ramirez, who had taken him from his home. After Ramirez escaped the police's tail on him, he ran into the North Carolina forest where “Miles used his knowledge of the area to… approach him on foot” (Hero Trooper Saves 3 Year Old After Amber Alert 1). That is bravery. He put his fears aside so he could save a little boy because he knew that by the time people would come to help it could be too late. Without Miles’ bravery, that little boy might not be alive. Bravery, however, is not the only important quality of a hero.…

To be heroic is to be passionate, to believe in the greater good, and to live without hate.…

Socrates once said, "He is a man of courage who does not run away, but remains at his post and fights against the enemy." People around the globe have been suffering injustice; a disease that kills values, injures dignity and leads some people to revenge, preferring death to life. Injustice affects individuals as well as societies and the whole world. It is a disease created by human to dehumanize human. Throughout an individual’s life, one might come across many significant injustices that challenge an individual’s courage, self-respect, and whether or not an individual has enough strength to stand up to their morals and values. What is courage; well it is the ability to face danger, difficulty, uncertainty, or pain without being overcome by fear or being deflected from a chosen course of action. In the film, Braveheart, Randall Wallace pursues a courageous warrior, William Wallace, as he fights for his nation-state’s freedom from a dictator, Edward Longshanks. Every human being on this planet is given the gift of courage. However, there are very few that ever take advantage of this gift, and actually put it to good use. Courage is the ability to work one’s way through a tough situation. Be it mental, or physical. Individuals have all faced tough challenges before, the difference, however, is that some people tend to give up when the going gets rough, while others keep on.…
