Tristan Heroes Research Paper

People read and watch things about heroes all the time because in the deepest reaches of their mind they aspire to be among their ranks. The problem with the average person’s desire to be a hero is that they don’t truly know what a hero is. A hero is able to bounce back from a defeat that would stop any normal man in their tracks, they are inspirational, they gain followers and believers just by doing what they think is right, and they don’t have to be strong, but have to be able to take mental punishment like no other. Heroes are able to recover from a defeat where a normal man would stop trying and give in to his dark feelings. One example of this is, Tristan Segers he was a normal military soldier until his vehicle was blown up along with one of his legs. “After nearly two years of surgeries and rehabilitation in Texas, Segers, a handsome 28-year-old, moved back to Snohomish County last week.”(SB, Pg. 58). A great example of this is, Mulan. Mulan is joined the military as a girl even though girls aren’t allowed. The reason for this is that her father was sick and would die in war. So she took his place in the military. “Mulan is an ordinary girl who finds courage and strength to continue training and fighting battles, even though she may be frightened.”(SB, Pg. 75). This quote shows Mulan’s perseverance and ability to work under stress and anxiety. Another great example is, The Drummer boy of Shiloh. The Drummer Boy was scared of the battle coming the next day.
