Heroes have played a huge role in my late teenage years, ever since I saw The Dark Knight Movie in 2010 since then I have been interested in Comic Book heroes including Greek mythology. In this essay I'll talk about the definition of hero, heroic characteristics also why I choose this hero.
The definition of hero varies among people but, in my definition of a Hero is a person who is able to achieve the difficult task regardless of the resistance of society or sacrificing themselves in risky situations. A hero is not a person who is easily scared, gives up easily and selfish. Firstly, heroes are, according to Wikipedia, “…characters who, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, display courage and the will for self-sacrifice, that is, heroism—for some greater good of all humanity,” however according to Word Reference dictionary a hero is, “a person, typically a man, who is admired for their courage or outstanding achievements.” Both sources coincide that a hero needs to be brave. My idea of what makes a hero probably different from the next person. Lots of people in the world today look up to sports stars and call them heroes but I have a different outlook on what makes a hero. I think a hero is someone who will do whatever it takes to be the best person that they can be no matter what. A hero is a person who looks out for everyone and anyone with no exceptions to their color, race, and religion. A hero is a person who does the right thing when someone is looking as well as when no one is looking. A hero has to have integrity, honesty, loyalty, and compassion. A hero has to be an example to all that see them. A hero will sacrifice themselves for the benefit of other people. They have to be understanding to the needs of other people. My idea of a hero is a person that will risk their life or even injury to themselves in order to rescue…

The definition of a hero is a relatively simple one; a hero is someone who positively impacts others through their actions and accomplishments. While we all have different views on who exactly we see as a hero, there are certain individuals, such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Abraham Lincoln, who have undeniably changed the world and fit this definition. I have found that many of the individuals who society, and I personally, view as great heroes, share a certain set of traits that almost definitely had a large part in their accomplishments. This is why I believe that bravery, selflessness, and determination are three vital traits when it comes to defining what it means to be a hero.…

People may think of the word hero differently. When I hear the word hero I think of Superman, Batman, and Spiderman. Those are all great “heroes” in my opinion. However, we know those are not factual heroes. A hero, also defined as someone who has made noble or brave accomplishments. Someone’s accomplishments or someone in a cape does not make them a hero. A true hero is someone who helps or makes a difference in someone’s life. The example he or she sets for society can make them a hero.…

Another view of a hero can be found in an extended definition. As previously mentioned, heroes can be found throughout history, many of whom have made a difference in people’s lives. They were the ones who forever made an impact while changing the course of time with their revolutionary thinking and courage to stand up for what was right, as well as what they believed in, without regard for the consequences. For example, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made an impact in the African-American community in the United States by standing up for African-American’s rights with non-violent protests and movements while sharing with the world his vision of a dream, which has been memorialized in his famous speech, “I Have a Dream” speech which says, “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We…
