College Essay About Gymnastics
When I was young, I was searching for the right sport for me. It took a while but I finally found the perfect sport and it was gymnastics. I was so excited to begin the wonderful sport. In gymnastics you have to start somewhere and most people start in beginner classes, like me. I went from beginner classes to team and I have been on team ever since. Team takes a lot of practice and training and many years of strength and self-confidence. Like most people I took many years to get where I am now and it took lots of training but, it was all worth it. My gymnastics career started in the fall of 2009, with my friend Hannah at a gymnastics class. One fall day in October, my mom couldn’t pick my sister and I up from school, so she had asked my friend Hannah’s mom if she could pick us up. She had told my mom that she could but, Hannah and her sister Hailey had a gymnastics class that night and she offered for my sister Maddie and I …show more content…
I was so nervous but excited at the same time. I had my competition leotard on and my hair in a really tight pony tail with a matching bow. At gymnastics competitions you have to look really nice and presentable because you are representing your team. When we walked into the arena we got ready for warm-up. After warm-up we did march in and got ready to warm up our first event. March in is where we get in a line with our team shortest to tallest and the M.C. calls out each team name and we salute and then we listen to the National Anthem. Our first event was bars and at gymnastics meets we go in Olympic order. Olympic order is vault, bars, beam, floor, so after bars we went to beam and so on. After we warm up each event we compete it in front of 2-3 judges (depends on each event the amount of judges). At the end of the meet we went to awards in the building next door. I had won a medal for each event and after awards we got a team picture and went to a team dinner at Olive

In less than two weeks I was a complete natural at skating, I was all about skates. I practiced all the derby stances, exercises, techniques you name it I am absolutely in love with this sport. but as much as I fantasized about doing it I never thought that I’d actually get the chance to be part of their world and have training by the Derby Dames Juniors Freshmeat Association crew, which are ranked the top thirty-one in the united states!…

To begin, being a gymnast when I was younger taught me how to be dedicated. When I was a child, I would spend five hours, five days a week training in the gym. Although I was only in middle school, I was taught that practice was the only way to be successful. My day was planned out to the minute and it was to be strictly followed. I would wake up in the morning, eat breakfast and head to school. When school was over, my mother would drive me to the gym and I would have exactly two hours to do homework. At four o’clock, practice started and did not end until nine p.m. I would then eat dinner and go to bed. The next morning, it would start all over again. Although I practiced year round, competition season was always the most grueling. Practice got harder and we had to be even more devoted during this time. Even…

Soccer is one of the most demanding physical high intensity field games played all over the world. The increasing demand to increase a player’s physical ability both at professional and amateur soccer has grown in recent years. The development of strength and power is paramount to success in most sports, especially those involving short-term, high-intensity efforts. Traditional Strength training programs improve the development of speed & power (Hakkinen and Hakkinen 1993; Rhea et al. 2003) and stability in an athlete leading to the possibility of better kicking performance, though it is important to recognize the role of strength in power Rostgaard et al. (2008). In a normal week amateur players train on average between 2 to 3 hours, these…

From the day I could walk, I was involved in sports. From playing tee-ball in the backyard with my dad when I was three, to trying three new sports as a senior, athletics have been an integral part of my life. In my elementary school days, I tried every sport that was offered through the Jefferson Parks and Recreation. This included baseball, football, wrestling, karate, soccer, and tennis. Through middle school, I dropped several of these sports to focus on my two favorite sports, baseball and wrestling. Training for these two sports never ended and most of my time was spent either on a baseball field or on a wrestling mat. Entering my high school years, baseball and wrestling were the only sports I competed in. By my sophomore year, I was…
