The prevailing archetype of an institution can highly affect the programming and activities of the institution’s student affairs unit. With the top down authoritative structure of a bureaucratic institution, it is the leadership of the intuition that will guide the programming within the student affairs unit. Further, the work of student affairs is considered strictly the responsibility and duty of the student affairs unit. In contrast, a collegial intuition has a sense of shared work, thus the work of student affairs can be seen as shared by non-student affairs units, such as faculty.
