as well as restocking books on shelves. I’m also interested in helping at the humane society where as a Girl Scout we did a food drive and toured the facility. Even Frederick in Flight needs help, and as someone who loves attending that every year it would be exciting to help with the hot air balloons. Volunteering at these places can help in the betterment of yourself and the community. Next, I can reach out to my community using leadership by finding needs and fulfilling them.
Elementary schools are looking for volunteers to help students with reading and math. I feel I could not only tutor the students, but lead them by example, befriend them and also instill values of NJHS by setting a good example. Last year, after the house explosion in Firestone, my friends and I held a lemonade stand to raise money for the affected families. We were able to raise over two hundred dollars. I feel that by taking the initiative to get out and help I can make a difference in my community. There are many ways to be a role model. Maybe there is a cause you are passionate about that would motivate you to start your own charity. For instance, I have a passion for supporting domestically abused animals like the ones found at the Wild Animal Sanctuary in
Keenesburg. In conclusion, I can reach out to my community given the five aspects of National Junior Honor Society in ways that would be fun and interesting as well as beneficial. For example, my five years as a Girl Scout will be an asset to me because I have learned to excel in community problem solving and enjoy going out into the community. As a GS we picked up trash in the park and hosted canned food drives. Using service and leadership, there are many ways I can reach out to my community. Some of my ideas include volunteering, and being a good role model to younger students.
