Examples Of The Pillars Of National Junior Honor Society
When communities get together, big things can happen. There are many ways I can help my community come together and use leadership, citizenship and service to do good. In National Junior Honor Society, there are five pillars. These pillars are; scholarship, leadership, character, citizenship, and service. Some ideas I have that use the pillars of service and leadership to reach out to my community include volunteering and being a good role model to younger students. Initially, I can reach out to my community through service by getting myself and others involved in volunteering. For example, I could ask for volunteering opportunities around me, and invite my community to help out by posting on a community site, or encouraging my friends and family to invite their friends and family. I could invite people to my house and we could have ice cream before or after volunteering as an incentive. In our community, the volunteer opportunities cover almost every interest and or passion. I am interested in the volunteer opportunities at the library where they need help maintaining the area around the building …show more content…

Elementary schools are looking for volunteers to help students with reading and math. I feel I could not only tutor the students, but lead them by example, befriend them and also instill values of NJHS by setting a good example. Last year, after the house explosion in Firestone, my friends and I held a lemonade stand to raise money for the affected families. We were able to raise over two hundred dollars. I feel that by taking the initiative to get out and help I can make a difference in my community. There are many ways to be a role model. For instance, I have a passion for supporting domestically abused animals like the ones found at the Wild Animal Sanctuary in

As a volunteer, you must have the desire to serve others and to forget about your needs when helping others. Yes, you may be going thru at home or at work, but when volunteering your issues are as not as big as the people who have humbled themselves to request help. The philosophy of the KRC Food Pantry directors is, “Give a person a fish sandwich and you will feed them for the day. Teach a person how to fish and they will continue to feed themselves for a life time.” Part of the services provided in addition to the food boxes are job search, clothing for interviews, resume writing assistance and much more.…

The place that I decided to volunteer at was the St. Thomas Church Pantry. The purpose of this service is to get food to people who have fallen upon tough financial times. One business skill that this group needs to keep the food pantry running is marketing skills. One of the struggles that food pantries have is not getting enough food donations of items they need. So, the leader of the pantry must ask for donations of the items that they run low on. This also means that the volunteers at the Pantry must take inventory on food items to ensure that they will not run out of certain food items. Also, they have to have a volunteer schedule just like most businesses this is to ensure that at least two volunteers will be working during the two days of the week that the Pantry is…

The four pillars of the National Honor Society; scholarship, leadership, character, and service are the four qualities of a well-rounded individual. They have not only embodied who I strive to be, but have helped me achieve success and impact throughout my local community and my time as a national honor society member. Scholarship has helped me define not only who I am as a student, but has helped me prepare for my future. Without my drive to maintain my academics and pursue knowledge, I would not have discovered my love and passion for teaching. This newly discovered passion has helped me narrow down my future career, special education. Service, has helped me develop one of my individual characteristics, as I now understand the importance…

“The hardest obstacle to overcome in any leadership position is getting past the apathy to get people involved in the process to get things done…The greatest enemy to accomplishment is apathy” (Burke). National Honor Society upholds its members to have 4 important values. These being scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Leadership, in my opinion, is a very important aspect in National Honors Society because you are expected to be a role model by positively inspiring people around you. This quote stuck out because it says that inspiring people is a way to overcome obstacles in leadership. If you inspire people and make them get rid of their apathy, you can overcome stalling in the process and reach accomplishment.…

National Honor Society continues to shape me into an independent, self-sufficient young adult. The four pillars play an important role in my life no matter where I am. For example, whether I’m at work, in school, or on the basketball court, scholarship, service, leadership, and character transform me into a compassionate leader. Furthermore, National Honor Society will also continue to lead me through the rest of my life. As I head off to college, I will always have the traditional values of the four pillars to lean on. While studying in the field of nursing, I can take what I learned and apply it to my everyday life, even when helping others. Hopefully if I am successful, my leadership will rub off on others, transforming their lives as I…

Bringing people together encouraging human unity is a gift. Participating in service demonstrates that a person cares for others. There is no measurement for service to society, it is what helps to make the world a better place. I provide service regularly at my church, City Of Faith Church Of God. The congregation inspires me to give as much of me to them, as I possibly can. Working at. The church food pantry brings me joy.feeding citizens who are without the basics, food, and seeing the look of relief on their faces is one of the greatest experiences. Additionally, preparing for the culmination of "Child's Month Celebration" has been a lot of fun. Designing the logo based on the theme of "Be A Winner and Join The Race" was a fulfilling role. As a nominee of the National Honors Society , my mind overflows with ideas of how we can serve in our community. Some tasks we can fulfill include visiting the elderly. I am certain that they would appreciate and enjoy us going to read and/or listen them. Helping to clean our school environment would also be a good use of our service. In addition, I believe that academic tutoring from members of the Honors Society to students at NFA, other schools in the district, and the public library would be very useful and effective. Our service is important and would be very effective in our…

Since its establishment, the National Honor Society has been built upon the core values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Throughout the years, National Honor Society has upheld these pillars, and its outstanding club members strive to embody these values in every aspect of their lives. However, these four principles add up to become something much more over the course of National Honor Society’s lifetime -- its legacy. These four honorable tenets are what constitutes a legacy, and I wish to become an individual who represents all of these core values -- and more. I genuinely believe that I exemplify most of the qualities that National Honor Society values, and though I am aware that I am still lacking in some, I will work…

The National Honor Society is a group of students that exemplify the traits of leadership, character, citizenship, and intelligence. It is crucial that the future members of this organization exhibit these characteristics to the best of their abilities. For a great majority of my student life, I strived to perform these traits to my utmost capability, aiming to become an excellent example for my fellow peers. Throughout my high school career, I have been on the honor role for every quarter thus far. I feel deep pride and satisfaction in my grades and scholarly accomplishments, for they are a visual example of the hard work and large amount of effort I put into my studies. Everywhere we step into we bring our ideas and knowledge, we have the ability to create a significant change among the people that we affiliate with. There might have been countless times where we might have been given the power to create change but have unfortunately misused that power and wasted it. Having such power can be overwhelming however there has always been the time where we gather the courage to stand up and lead, open our mouths and pour out the knowledge that we have accumulated through the years. Having the courage can sometimes be the solution to some conflicts, because we might be the only ones with the knowledge for a solution and our cowardness can lead to a decline in production. During my high school career, I was part…
