Color blindness is the inability or the decreasing ability to see color or the differences in colors. John Dalton wrote the first paper pertaining to Colorblindness called “Extraordinary facts relating to the vision of colours” in 1798. He himself was colorblind and originally named the disability daltonism.
Color blindness is usually inherited but you can get it other ways. Color blindness can also happen if physical or chemical damage is done to the eye, the optic nerve, or parts of the brain. Some people may not even be aware that their perception of color is different from normal. It allow you to see colors but the shade or match is different that normal vision. It is like a mutation of the original color. There are three forms of Anomalous trichromacy. Protanomaly, Deuteranomaly, and Tritanomaly. When you see colors your eyes are examining wavelengths of radiation. Depending on what form of Anomalous trichromacy you have different parts of the wavelengths are affected. For example driving, there are thousands of studied that show driving is a huge risk for people who have color deficiencies. The ability to read signs and light are important while driving. An example of a hazard is, for some people red traffic lights may appear to be dull or not there, which means they may not stop when directed. There are also a lot of jobs that require normal color vision, such as police officer, firefighter, and airline pilot. It even makes it hard for some to do simple things like coloring and painting.
