Make sure at all times, your goggles are covering your eyes to prevent chemicals and particles from getting in. Be very careful that you don’t get any chemical on you, but if you do, quickly rinse off the caustic liquid. Read the instructions cautiously so no mistakes are made and so you don’t have to redo the experiment. Make sure to thoroughly wash the instruments used and put them in the correct place after use.
Procedure:
1) Put on safety goggles
2) Gather all the materials necessary to perform this experiment
3) Measure 5 mL of the system using the funnel into the graduated cylinder (25mL)
4) Pour the 5mL into the 40mL vile
5) Shake the content in the vile for 30 seconds
6) Record the time it takes for the system to turn from blue to colorless
7) Repeat steps 4,5,6,7 with the following measurements: 10 mL, 15mL, 20mL, and 25mL
8) Do 1-2 more trials for more accurate data
9) Clean up lab area and put materials
