Comedy has many points that make it into a comedy, it is what take a good comedy and turns it into a great one. However, out of the many pieces there is these few are some of the most used or ones that you notice the most when seeing or reading a good comedy. The first piece is Complex. This part defines the main character, and he or she will mostly have a messier life, he or she also has plenty of twists and turns in their life that keeps the audience guessing. A twist and turn in a comedy will always want the audience wanting more and questioning what will happen next, who does not love a good twist? The second piece is High Tolerance for Disorder. Which is showing that the novel or performance is mostly on the fly and has more of a random feeling with not that much explanation of what the ending determination is. Most of the time audiences do not really look for a plot to a comedy that much. They mostly just want a decent story with qualities …show more content…
of a comedy. The third piece is Emotional Disengagement. “Comic heroes are often ironic and disengaged from the situation; they tend to respond with wit, imagination, or cynicism. They tend to abstract themselves from their misfortunes. The audience is expected to react in much the same way to what the characters undergo.” (John Morreall Paragraph: 7) this is one of the key strategies to keeping an audience’s attention, because if a story can get the audience to feel the same way as the character there following then you already have thumbs up on a part of the review from critics about to come in. The fourth piece is Forgiveness. It is always a great thing to see when the hero is the bigger man or women, and sets aside differences or past conflicts to determine them forgiving or not forgiving someone. What makes a good comic character is often one that can forgive an enemy or villain that has done them wrong, this shows that the hero is actually a hero, instead of being like the villain and not forgiving and otherwise kills him/her. The fifth piece is Equality. Comedies have always done the best to keep everyone equally involved in their work by keeping the joke unbiased, or making a joke about lower class people, then to even things out also making a joke about the higher class, so no one is hurt. In order to make a simple comedy a popular comedy you really want to stay unbiased, the less bias the better. If you can include all of the audience from lower class to higher class, you can have everyone laughing and with laughs and enjoyment, you get feedback that is more positive. Now the sixth piece is More Sexual Equality. Comedy, just like keeping different classes equal, they do the same exact thing for the sexes giving both males and females a strong, stand up character. This is important to audiences that is a die-hard feminist who want to see a female character also have a big role in the story, this also falls
Guyer 3 under the fifth piece on making sure to stay unbiased.
Equality is good and comedy for the most part stays unbiased when making a good comedy. These reasons is why comedy continues to dominate when it comes to all novels, movies and plays. You just cannot argue with a competitor that has been entertaining everyone for countless years, and many more years to come. Out of these pieces to build, a puzzle that will give you a hit comedy, the most important is to make sure that you can stay unbiased, because if you can appeal to several different categories of audiences you will get more sales. The more sales the more popularity, and when you have more popularity you can make a foot print in the comedy world, and you can possibly get a sequel to you book, play, or movie. Then sequels can give you more money and money is good, and in in no times you could be celebrating in the riches that most people only dream of, and you will be doing it by creating masterpieces that you love and enjoy
making.
