Many people would say that their family or friendships is what exemplifies them. Others would say that it is the organizations that they are a part of what makes them who they are. But for me, that is not true. I am defined by two singular subjects. I am defined by my writing as I write the words of my story, “Don’t hold back, Harry!” I am defined by the Japanese style of cartoons, anime. Anime and writing intertwine to define me. Anime and writing both contribute to making me who I am.

I’ve been writing stories since I was 9. I even wrote a story that I wanted to publish in elementary school. However, my passion bloomed in high school, when I started writing fanfiction. Fanfiction is when writers take an already existing piece of literature and add their own little twist to it. I myself have done a Harry Potter Fanfiction. In this fanfiction, I have taken Harry and made him the older brother to the boy-who-lived, and I have made him go to a school that J.K. Rowling did not create, but a school of my own creation. The authors then post it on a website so that people can read and give feedback on it. Soon, I had committed my life to this sole website. I was writing at every chance I got: in the car, before bed, and early in the morning. Nothing could stop me from writing my fanfiction. I was determined to write as much fanfiction as possible.
