Community service does not have just one single meaning; it has many. Community service means something different to every person in the world. To me, community service means helping not only your community, but also your school, state and country. It means to be kind and caring to others, to help out those who are less fortunate then you. Community service is when you take time out of your life to do something that will better other people. Looking down the list of community service activities I have done, I thought one of them was the most significant one. I call it, “The Community Service in the Heart of Hurricane Sandy.” On October 29, 2012, Hurricane Sandy shocked everyone in the tri- state area of New York City. The storm drove to its enormous speed, crashing down homes and trees. This led to hundreds of injuries. Electricity quickly shutdown as the blackout surrounded many parts of New York City. Hurricane Sandy did not only bring its cries to America but it brought hunger to many people. We were all ready to distribute the supplies to the residents at Confuscious Plaza. Tons of bottles of water were being delivered, followed along with boxes of military food. After all the supplies had been delivered, our captain, Pauline, assigned us in groups to distribute food to certain floors. I was the captain for my group since I was the only one who spoke Cantonese which is the main language that the residents speak there. Confuscious Plaza had 44 floors and I was assigned to distribute food from that floor to the 25th.
