Topics:
Two people, two sports, two laws/rules, two classes, two songs
Format:
Paragraph one should be the introduction: Include a bit of background and the two things you will be comparing and contrasting Make sure there is a strong thesis statement that shows the intent of the paper Ex) In the world of equestrian sports, different breeds of horses have specialized jobs This may be due to the idea that the body type must be suited to the work that they are doing in order to be successful. Dressage usually requires horses that are refined with big movement such as the warmblood breeds or Thoroughbreds. Barrel racing horses are often Quarter horses that are strong- legged and short backed to make for speed around barrels. Although the Thoroughbred and Quarter horse are very different in the roles they may assume, they also have many similarities.
Paragraph two (or section two) should explain the comparisons / alikenesses. It is possible, depending on how much info you have that this may not be completed in one paragraph. You may have several paragraphs if the info warrants that. Remember as you change subjects, or in this case examples, you may need to change paragraphs if you have sufficient info to do so.
Paragraph three or section three. Explain how the two are different – the contrasts. Last section is the conclusion where you summarize what you said briefly.
Remember:
This info may need to be researched therefore include citations within the text of the paragraph (Smith, 2009) as well as a reference page as the last page of the paper.
