Compare And Contrast Breckenridge And Vail
Who doesn’t love a vacation from the mundane monotony of everyday life? Whether it’s a tropical oasis or a mountain excursion, I love a good vacation. In Colorado, the two main mountainous getaways are Breckenridge and Vail. In both places, you can ski to your heart's desire in the winter, or explore and enjoy the cool weather in the summer. They are both very touristy destinations with a plethora of condos, hotels, shopping, and amenities. Despite these similarities, Breckenridge is the better place to spend your vacation.
There are a variety of outdoor activities available to try in Breckenridge. In the summer, there are many water related activities available. You can go kayaking, canoeing, even water skiing. Not to mention, there are numerous hiking and running paths. In the winter, there’s skiing, snowboarding, and ice skating. They have several different ski runs, from bunnies all the way to black diamonds. All of these activities are very family friendly, where everyone can tag along.
On the other hand in Vail, there are no open water activities available. Additionally, there is only one running trail. As for skiing, the bulk of their ski paths are very difficult black diamond runs. If you plan on taking the whole family, it

When you’re on a vacation, having so many places to rest and relax in the Blue Spruce Spa, is so convenient and rejuvenating. The shopping is great too. You can find hundreds upon hundreds of souvenirs at “Shirt and Ernie's,” or any of the other t-shirt shops. There’s also a fun place called, “Ready, Paint, Fire” where you can paint your own projects and cookware. It’s a great activity for a wide variety of ages. Breckenridge also has unique places to shop. They recently opened a place that exclusively sells beef jerky. These are just a few of the treasures you can find while in

Some people come from out of state to enjoy the theme park in spring and summer break. It is a fun place because there are many things to do even though it is less rides. I still love all the roller coasters and my favorite roller coaster is the Alpengist. Lines can be long, but never disappoints me at all. Amazing roller coasters their I like most of them. They have roller coasters for adults and young children. They also have wolves, goats and a dog it is kind of cool because they are very shy and curious. During the summer time, they have fireworks. This is the best feature in the park. Everyone also enjoys the Howl-O-Scream and Christmas Town. I've never been to the Christmas town, but I heard it is nice. In December, Christmas lights are placed on the rides as décor. I really enjoy seeing penguins and having fun visiting all the different…

One of the many activities available is tubing. To tube, you get on a round raft type of object and you sit in the middle of it and ride down the river. You can see all the beautiful things around you, such as the trees, the little islands and the wildlife on the sides of the river. The trees are a brilliant green all summer and in spring they bloom with lovely white and pink colors. In autumn, they turn a bright red, yellow, and orange, lighting up the river. Some islands look eerie in winter because it is hard to see through all the branches and trees, giving the island a dark, spooky look. Other islands look warm and inviting, beckoning you in with their luscious branches full of different colored leaves. The wildlife looks beautiful, sometimes family of deer are visible; you can usually see one or two yearlings with their mother. Other times you can see chunky little groundhogs, usually during spring time. To see the groundhogs, you have to pay attention minutely because they are usually undistinguished among all the trees and the ground. Kayaking and canoeing are other options, which are both just as entertaining as tubing except they are more serene. You can put your hands in the river and sometimes feel the scaly fish rub up against your hand.…

    Moving: North vs. South

Let’s stay up North for a while and discover all it may have to offer. The snowy climate may be ideal for some people, but it’s not for me. You have to wear a layer of long johns and jeans, sweater, coat, hat and gloves to go brave the cold. It’s a very long winter season which is cold, wet and inconvenient to travel around in. There can be days and weeks on end where you may not get a glimpse of the sun at all. People use tanning beds to get a tan. Snow storms can be common in this area. The roads can be slippery and sometimes there can be travel bans because of the danger of road conditions. You are constantly hearing snow plows going by salting the roads. When the salt melts the snow, it gets very slushy and the salt gets on your vehicles and causes them to rust. If you enjoy the cold weather, you may enjoy some of the many activities that the Northern areas have to offer. There are plenty of ski resorts that offer everything from skiing to snowboarding to tubing. Most of these lodges also offer a warm lodge to get hot chocolate or a bite to eat, and a lounge for those who may like to have a cocktail. You may prefer to go sledding or build a snow man. Some people even go winter camping and hike with snowshoes. I personally enjoy riding snowmobiles with my family and friends. There’s nothing quite like riding the trails after they have been groomed.…

The mountain scenery in Colorado is one of the most beautiful in the United States. It is a center for vacationers who want to take advantage of the nice summer climate and the supplies of powdered snow in the winter. Some of the North American Cordillera includes the Colorado Rockies, which goes through the western part of the continent all the way from Alaska into northern Mexico. There are many skiing resorts and areas that you can go to in Colorado, such as Aspen, Beaver Creek, and Vail. A place you would definitely want to visit is the Mesa Verde. “Mesa Verde, Spanish for green table, offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home for over 700 years, from AD 600 to 1300. Today the park protects nearly 5,000 known archeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings. These sites are some of the most notable and best preserved in the United States.”Another place you might want to visit is the national monument,…

It is a wonderful place for rock climbers and family camping. My favorite aspect of Shanty Hollow is it’s open year round. So, take that summer hike with your family, friends, or just yourself. Go find the waterfalls within Shanty Hollow. If you go after a heavy rain, the main waterfall is accompanied by 100 smaller waterfalls. Go take a nice cool rest in the cave which also makes a perfect swimming spot if you seek it out. Personally, I would rather see that waterfall at the end of the hike glistening in the sun from ice crystals that have formed. So take that drive, anytime of the year, bring the kids and let them get their feet wet, or go taste that ice crystal. Just remember the few rules of the outdoors, please take out everything you take in and hit the trail in boots. If you happen to go after a rainstorm, the sight is breathtaking but it will turn from an easy trail to a muddy nightmare in flop flops.…

During the scorching summer of 2010, my family and I took an eventful vacation to Niagara Falls. Our summer trip to Niagara Falls was an amazing vacation full of fun, adventure, and new experiences.…

    Skiing Classification

It’s close by and has a good variety of slopes. It’s also where I learned to ski. I never took classes or training to ski, instead, I chose to dive right on in as soon as I got my poles and skis. I never had much trouble learning the basics, and was as easy to pick up as a book. If I were to select one slope to be my favorite, I would pick the Old Main. It may be an easy slope, but it’s one of the longest trails there, and at just the right decline so that you can choose a comfortable speed. The surroundings at a ski resort are not like any others that I’ve seen before. Pine trees. Pine trees everywhere. They make for a cool scenery piece that separate slopes. There were plenty of shrubs around as well. A fun thing to see was all of the litter in them too. We always saw a bunch of beer in those bushes. Since you’re on a mountain, you are constantly high up and above the surrounding landscape. There is nothing like looking down on shapeless figures from high atop a mountain. Another thing I enjoy about the Old Main is that about halfway down, there is a detour on the right side that leads to a viewing area with both a bathroom and concession…

Although snow skiing may be enjoyable for some, the extreme temperatures involved, the outrageous prices and snow skiing in general was just not my cup of tea. This information would have been quite helpful before I planned the worst vacation ever! After hitting a jackpot at the Creek Nation Casino in 2004, my fiancé, Tim and I decided we needed a vacation! It had been almost six months since I gave birth to our daughter, Taylor Nicole and we were both feeling a bit overwhelmed. The joy of becoming new parents was quickly diminished by the sudden presence of our newly found responsibilities. This vacation was supposed to be the break we needed. After researching prices and destinations that would accommodate our modest budget, we finally chose a small ski resort in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. We eagerly booked our room, reserved our ski passes and purchased necessary equipment all paid for in advance. We were convinced that we would have the time of our lives.…
