To start off, in the poem titled Human Family by Maya Angelou, a theme shown is we are more alike than unalike. She develops this idea by repetition of simple words and phrases. In the poem the line ¨we are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike.¨ Maya repeats this phrase many times at the end, this has an effect on how important this is to her.
