In this trip Charlie and the doctors who did the surgery go to Chicago and talk about how the surgery went and how smart Charlie is now. This speech backfires when Charlie, who is now smarter than the doctors, read an article about the same experiment and how it went wrong. The experiment in the article worked for awhile, until the person who had the surgery slowly grew more ignorant, which resulted in them dying. Once Charlie read this he became worried about what would happen to him. He announced to the audience about the article and how the doctors didn’t tell him about this, then proceeded to let all of the mice go, except for Algernon. Some people argue that this should’ve been in the book for a number of reasons, one of which is because you get to see a side of Charlie you never got to see in the book. Another reason is because for the reader, Charlie just started getting more and more unintelligent, for example, “I was looking at my old progress reports and it's very funny, but i can’t read what I wrote.” (Pg: 84) This proves that in the book they left out some important details. For some this made the movie
