While watching the video segment it seemed the Artist Walton Ford was additionally in tune to putting out the best of his creative abilities.
In viewing his subject matter behind his art, I found myself rewinding the video to look at his works of art. It was vibrant and big and you were able to truly enjoy his work as if the scene was coming to life. Mr. Ford started using watercolors in his earlier pictures and graduated to using them on a large scale in print form, just like the paintings of Rembrandts large scale art work. The background he gave about his research into his own art and the history of his animal characters made the art more dramatic. ‘Mr. Walton, states; he paints from the humor side of things and likes to incorporate little clues of jokes and old folktales often referenced from colonial literature’. Eleanor Antin appears to be physically involved with her works of art, more of a representational/ Conceptual artist. She loves all different types of art and she refers to dancing and acting, sculpting, and painting and photography. She uses live people for most of her current creations including being able to capture peoples individual creativity through photography. Eleanor Antin seems to be able to step back in time with her photos. She has studied history, old Colonial times and Roman times. Eleanor states, “I got this sort of, guess love affair with the past, when I was a kid, I wanted to be an Ancient Greek. I was enamored with Walton Ford and his prints. They are extreme and on a grand scale and so interesting to look at. It has inspired me to look up some of his print work and obtain some smaller ones for my office. I really like this artist’s work and the grandeur of it. He is my favorite of the two artists.
Eleanor Antin’s creations were not my favorite. If I had to say choose one, it would be her work with Pompeii, only because I like that period in history, she seemed to have been able to capture the vibrant colors of the people and their attire though a lens. She seems to be a busy artist and into everything art. I think if she focused on one type of art her work would be simply amazing, because she is very talented.
