Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin both shared many things in common as dictators in the 1920's til the late 1940's. It's interesting to think that men who had so much in common, from their childhood to the way they ruled their countries, would actually hate each other due to their political ideology. Hitler was part of the Nationalist Party while Stalin enforced a Communist regime. Both men were immensely popular within their own country as they brought effective change, but with secret agendas and elusive plots eventually surfacing, both can be easily classified as the most hated man in history. As a young child, Hitler was beaten by his father to the point where he was in a coma for a couple days. Stalin's father
was abusive as well, forcing him to be stubborn and constantly rebel in the face of authority. Later in life, Stalin became infected with smallpox which left him scarred making him an extremely self conscience individual. One of his arms was actually noticeably shorter than the other and this did not necessarily help his self esteem. Hitler also had his bouts of insecurity as he considered himself unattractive with his beady eyes and large nose. Hitler believed that his nose was attributed by the possibility that his grandfather was Jewish. With his hatred towards those of the Jewish faith, Hitler could not stand that his possibly Jewish father whom he hated had named him. Because of this, Alois Schicklgruber became Adolf Hitler. Still, Hitler went by a more powerful name, The Fuher, meaning The Leader. With his fragile ego at stake, Stalin men needed his name to have a more powerful message when spoken out loud. This drove him to change his name from Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvil to Stalin or Man of Steel. One of the main differences between Stalin and Hitler was their political followings. Hitler was a nationalist meaning that he believed his country was to succeed independently. Nationalism brings forth a lot of pride for their country. Stalin was a Communist which is a form a socialism where the class system is abolished and everyone shares the same political philosophy. Stalin was inspired by Marxism and he took the role of revolutionary early on is his life. He worked with radical leaders like Lenin to overthrow the Russian government. In his earlier stages, Hitler actually focused more on art. He painted landscapes and did everything he possibly could to enter a prestigious art school in Vienna. When he was denied admittance, his aversion towards those of the Jewish faith began to grow. Stalin never specifically targeted a certain ethnic group or religion so he was not necessarily involved in a genocide. What he did do was target peasants in order to eliminate any sort of class system. Unfortunately, he deprived these people of any food and caused the biggest man made famine in history, obliterating an estimated nineteen million people. Even in Hitler's and Stalin's differences, they still seem to share much in common. Very few times in history do we encounter two malicious and evil men coexisting during the same time period especially those with so much in common. Had it not been for their utter hatred towards each other they most likely could have come together to literally rule the world. But both of them were very power hungry and their paranoid thinking would drive them away from any sort of trust they'd gain. Joseph Stalin and Adolph Hitler were two of the most powerful men around the time of World War II and were both very different but shared many of the same characteristics that ultimately contributed to their demise.
