minister of World War II in July of 1941. After he attempted to improve Japan’s relations with the United States he then failed to do so, he then ordered the Japan army to go to war and the attack on Pearl Harbor. Tojo resigned from his position when he came to the realization that Japan was going to lose the war. Once the war came to an end, Tojo was then executed for his responsibility and the reason to Japan's war crimes. . I will now be talking about Franklin D. Roosevelt. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the President of the United States when Pearl Harbor was attacked and then we became involved in World War II. He died in April of 1945 and Vice President Harry Truman took over office as the 33rd President of the United States. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor because they wanted to neutralize the U.S. Pacific Fleet, so we would not stop them from invading Malaya and the Dutch East Indies, where Japan wanted access to natural resources such as oil and rubber. Who shot first, Japan or America? As a surprise America shot first, because they did not ask permission to fly in an unauthorized zone and they were uncharted, we also saw the symbol, the rising sun on the side of the planes that were used.
. I will now be talking about Joseph Stalin. Josef Stalin, was dictator of the Soviet Union from about 1928 to his death in 1953. Stalin held the title General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, a position that did not originally have a huge influence, but through Stalin's superiority, he became the party leader of the soviet union. Between 1934 and 1953 that position was, usually, just one of several main Committee Secretaries, but his leadership was mainly acknowledged. I will now talk about Winston Churchill. Winston Churchill was an English statesman and an author, he was best known as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II. Winston Churchill is also known as an orator, strategist, and politician, Winston Churchill was one of the most important leaders and one of the most remembered in modern British and world history. He won the 1953 Nobel Prize in Literature for his books on English and world history. Winston Churchill was voted the greatest-ever Briton in the 2002 BBC poll the 100 Greatest Britons. I will now talk about Benito Mussolini. Benito Mussolini was the prime minister of Italy from 1922 until his
overthrow in 1943. He formed the Fascist party, whose ethics, Fascism, called for a one-party state, total obedience, patriotic nationalism, and aggressive militarism, not a very good place to be. Mussolini was a very close ally of German dictator Adolf Hitler who if you remember I talked about earlier. Mussolini sadly entered the war in June of 1940 on the side of Nazi Germany. In 1943 the Allies invaded Italy and in April of 1945 the Communist Resistance units executed Mussolini. Which is good but the Italian front is not very talked about, but it was very brutal.
