The internet is a reasonably new phenomenon and as a result there are still many people who don’t know how to use it and there are still many people who are sceptical. However there are many people who use the internet everyday who have a very different view.
Those who think that the internet is a blessing often refer to the world of information it contains and how you can gain access so much easier than when you had to trudge through stacks of library books before. There are approximately 114,000,000 websites on the internet and Google has indexed 0.0048% of the internet. That gives the idea of how large the internet is and how much information it contains. The information is very good to research and to supplement education and revision for exams or finals.
There are many practical uses for the internet such as email and sitting exams. Many schools and higher education use the internet to sit exams as an alternative to written exams. This is mainly used in multiple choice exams such as science. This is beneficial to places where it is difficult to get papers in to sit. The concept of the internet having uses over large expanses for communication is along the same idea. There are many programs such as Skype© and Microsoft Messenger© which are designed for this specific purpose. Skype allows people to “call” each other over the internet. They could be twenty meters away on another computer or laptop or they could be twenty thousand kilometres on another continent and you would still have relatively live call time(relatively because as the information has to travel great distances there will be a slight time lapse, it is the same as when using a telephone for long distance calls.)
