Cuba has had issues with their human rights for over 50 years, and when Castro was leader, many tried to change it little by little with testimonies. Although they are gaining their rights, piece by piece, they are still going to get defeated by the end result, which is creeping up on us all currently; dystopia. Many dystopian things happened such as having the higher ranked tower over the low ranks, and having so much destruction where the government, in this case Fidel, controls everything. “Under his dictatorship, Castro arrested dissidents and gay citizens and forced them into labor or prison, according to human rights groups. He is also responsible for mass executions of people who spoke out against his government”(Mcgraw, Marshal). Human rights are very limited in Cuba, but the people who try to improve it and oppose Castro, are executed, so it is not a very popular thing to do. For other nations, he was well known as a communist, including North America. To Americans, Fidel was the total representation of communism and Marxism, but to himself, he denied thinking himself in that way. The Americans knew he was being an apparatchik because of how he controlled how the government acted, and the people of his country. Many people who lived in Cuba left the country because of the new government that Fidel Castro had created, after he started to follow Marxism, which means communism. This made the government in charge of many business, and farms around Cuba. If you opposed his rules, such as limited Freedom of Speech, you would be imprisoned, or even executed. “Finally, with two journalists currently jailed, Cuba continues to be one of the few western hemisphere countries where reporters can still be found behind bars. Also, during the time period after the Bay of Pigs, in which Fidel sent his army to Havana and startled them, the Soviet Union joined forces with the Cuban’s and Castro. This made it possible for them to hit us with nuclear missiles, in which the Soviet’s would place in Cuba. World War III was possible then, even before Kim Jong Un gave problems, and it is all because of the ways that the Soviet’s teamed up with the Cuban’s to destroy the U.S. Luckily, the U.S. and the Soviet Union had an argument, which solved all of the problems, because they took out all the missiles they had planned on.
