The Cold War was the longest drawn out war between the United States and the Soviet Union’s Kremlin. Almost every leader elected into Presidential office from the time that World War 2 had ended to the time of Nixon’s resignation were strong opponents of the communistic views of the Soviet Union’s Kremlin. But to combat the Soviet Union’s desire to be a world leader and gain ultimate power the United States was left with no choice but to combat and mimic every attempt of military advancement of weaponry. Although the United States were the first to perfect the Fissure Bomb, the Soviet Union was the first to create a fissure bomb that they were actually able to transport and detonate their version of the bomb. The Soviet’s were able to successfully able to attach their bomb to a bomber jet and detonate the bomb on United States soil. This was a shock to the American people who felt that America was the most advanced and prosperous country on the planet. With the new information about the Soviet’s ability to deliver a weapon of mass destruction, President Truman was left to no other choice to begin the Nuclear Arms
