The United States During The Cold War

The Cold War was an ideological war when there was a great political and military conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union. The two powers were on the opposite ends of the economic and political spectrum. The United States is the capitalist state, while the Soviet Union was Russia. Though there was no fighting between the two states, there was always the threat that could have triggered a full-blown world war. The Cold War lasted about 45 years and it changed the global political and economic landscape. Each side created policies to strengthen weaken each other. The United States believed in stopping communism, this was stated in the Truman Doctrine. The United States does not have the moral authority to promote capitalism because the United States has its own domestic issues, fails to hold up the values of the country and only cares about its own personal gains.
During the Cold War, the civil rights movement was also taken place. Civil Rights movement was a social movement in the U.S during 1950’s and 1960’s whose goals were to end the racial discrimination and segregation in the country and to provide equal rights to African Americans. African Americans in the U.S didn’t have equal rights as the other white citizens and the movement is the symbol of the struggle and sufferings of those African-Americans. The U.S tried to hide the fact that they did not have a racial issue. During the Cold War, the Soviet Union and many countries argued that how come the U.S is promoting “freedom” and “Equality” but they are not treating African American as equal and citizens in the
