“Outsiders” Compare and Contrast Essay
The Outsiders, movie and novel, are both outstanding masterpieces, both of them loved by millions, and even if the actors don't match up with how the characters are described in the book, they still portray the characters outstandingly.
Even though there are a myriad of differences there are also a mass of similarities, for instance, they are both set in the same time frame (The 1960´s). They both keep the technology and clothing relevant to how it was portrayed in the 60´s. They also kept one of the most wholesome scenes in the whole book almost exactly the same, they paid attention to almost every detail during the scene with the church fire. The film also kept the number of around 4-5 kids, of which Ponyboy and Johnny saved, they didn't over exaggerate anything and kept with the feel of how anyone could have saved those kids, they director for the movie kept the same …show more content…
Adding Mickey Mouse also helps us see more into Soda´s character and see that he isn't a lacking and dull character. In all honesty the novel is much better than the film, in the novel the characters are more fleshed out and actually have personalities. The differences are more prominent. Some of the smaller differences are; the characters didn't have long, greasy hair, and while they were stuck at that godforsaken church they spent a lot more time outside.
