Outsiders Book Comparison
“Outsiders” Compare and Contrast Essay The “Outsiders” film and novel are both very outstanding and interesting.After watching the movie I noticed a few similarities, like how they both have all the same characters, and the church gets burnt down. Even though there are many similarities there are still a lot of differences, including how In the book Ponyboy was jumped, but this did not happen in the movie Here are a few of the similarities they share. Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy are all brothers. In both, the film, and the novel Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy are all brothers. The church still burnt down. As a result of the burning church, Johnny passed away, in both the film and the book . However there are still differences from the
two. In my opinion the biggest difference was, the farmer. In the novel Ponyboy and Johhny ask directions from a farmer to get to the church. On the way to the church that Dally had told Pony and Johnny to go to they sort of got lost and had to ask a farmer for directions. Yet in the movie they got there easily with only the directions Dally gave them. That might be one of the biggest difference in my opinion yet there are still many differences left. Another big difference is the zones that they live in. In the book the Socs lived in the east side, but the greasers lved in the west side.In the book Ponyboy mentions that the Socs lived in the east side, and the greasers lived in the west side. In the movie the socs lived in the north side, and the greasers lived in south side. When watching the movie I noticed that Cherry Valance mentioned how the socs stay at the north side, and she als mentioned the greasers lived in the south side. In conclusion, I’ve learned that novels, and movies can be so much alike, yet so much different. The differences are more prominent than the similarities, but the similarities are still somewhat prominent.
