They both had to learn how to live off of the land and which crops would be best suited for the land and which ways would be best to grow the crops. Massachusetts based its government off of religion, whereas Virginia was based more on business. Virginia had more troubles with the Native American population, as they were more likely to fight, whereas Massachusetts Bay worked with Native American tribes to take out the enemy tribes in hopes of living a more peaceful life. So even though both colonies have had their fair share of struggles, they both prevailed and their struggles are what have brought them to where they are
