You need to be conditioned to like your job, you need to have more than one partner, and you need to have drugs on you at all times. One of the characters in this book puts it in a better way “‘And that,’ put in the Director sententiously, ‘that is the secret of happiness and virtue - liking what you’ve got to do. All conditioning aims at that making people like their inescapable social destiny,”’ (Huxley 15 YB). However, in 1984 people just go about their own business and they aren’t conditioned to like their job they just know that they have to do it. We get a glimpse of the work that they have to do, “Most of it was tedious routine, but included in there were also jobs so difficult and so intricate that you could lose yourself in them as in the depths of a mathematical problem -- delicate pieces of forgery in which you had nothing to guide you except your knowledge of of the principles of Ingsoc and your estimate of what the party wanted you to say.” (Orwell 43) So with those two options I would say that I would rather work in a society such as Brave New World, because I would be conditioned to like what I do, and would be made to support the job and never grow tired of it. In 1984 I would hate the jobs I get, to be under pressure all of the time to make the Party look good and to just depend on your knowledge seems like it would be a real …show more content…
The complete opposite is mention In 1984 “‘The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness; only in power, pure power.”’ (Orwell 263). Although it’s obviously stated here in 1984 if I were to live here I wouldn't know it. In Brave New World, there seems to be more liberty, with the only things that you have to worry about is having sex and taking Soma, nothing else matters, you are conditioned to love your job so you’ll never hate that, when you go home you are in a house, unlike in 1984 where everything is run down to the worst conditions, here everyone is just a robot that lives in
