Libya is sort of known for corruption and New Zealand is on the opposite side of that. America is kind of in the middle, closer to New Zealand but still in the middle. If America starts giving preferential trading rights to Libya, we're forever connected to a country known for corruption and New Zealand probably won't do business with us because that looks bad. Who's to say America is just as corrupt as Libya and it just has been uncovered yet? Regardless of the moral implications, it's bad business to give countries with little concern over human rights preferential treatment because it will ruin your chance with better countries.
