Yunior is on the roller coaster of life and he’s not helping it by creating more upside down spirals with his betrayal and infidelities. Conflict is one of the most important parts of any story. This story is full of conflict, internal and external created by his own infidelities, along with exceptional usage of literary techniques Diaz writes an exceptional conclusion to Yunior’s life. As he spends years obsessing and dwelling over a relationship, that failed, as he starts over he and realizes the price he has had to pay for his way of life. The major focus of this analysis is the conflicts, internal and external that he has in his life due to his behaviors.

It is known that Dominican men are flirty, disloyal and pretty much like dogs. In the beginning of this story Yunior is a prime example of his culture’s stereotype. People of every race, nationality, and ethnicity face similar stereotypes from society. As you go through life you find ways to overcome and create your own identity in order to break away from the typical stereotypes that society pegs you as. Yunior has usually, almost always cheated on his girlfriend’s according to Diaz, “ The Cheaters Guide to Love” is the last story and is one of nine short stories in the book called This is How You Lose Her written by Junot Diaz. The conflicts that Yunior faces because of his behavior are tremendous. He never realized what he had until she left him. In the beginning he acts like he’s ok, he even tell his friend Elvis this to try and make himself believe it. And then you begin to revert back to your old ways, smoking, drinking, and sleeping around. “Then, according to Yunior, “your moods become erratic. One minute you have to stop yourself from jumping in the car and driving to see her. You start losing your temper with friends, with students, with colleagues” (Diaz, 2012). The beginning of his downward spiral is here and this is where his life begins to fall
