Comparing Eames House And Koshino House
My presentation is about 2 residential buildings: Eames House and Koshino House. The earlier building is called the Eames House which was created by husband and wife, Charles and Ray Eames. The other construction was designed by Tadao Ando and it is named the Koshino House.

Charles Eames was born in 1907 in St. Louis, Missouri, which if you don't know is located in America. In 1941 Charles married Ray. As a couple, they both designed furniture, buildings, and other objects. In fact, during World war II they designed stretchers, experimental gliders, shells and other equipment for the US Navy.

After the war in 1945, they went on to design their home. They ordered the materials later that year. However, due to war shortages, the materials

His buildings were influenced by Le Corbusier. One of Ando's trademarks became hand detailed reinforced concrete surfaces. Yet his buildings also incorporated styles that relate to Japanese architecture, including the views on nature and minimalism. During the 70's and 80's he mainly designed residential buildings. One of which included the Koshino House which was built in Japan from …show more content…
They both have 2 parallel structures with a courtyard in-between them. However, Koshino House is connected by an underground passageway. The Eames house has separate wings because they wanted an area as their home and a separate space as their workplace. The Koshino house is only a home, however, within the home, there are separate areas.

They both have high ceilings which are used to set the tone. Both houses were designed with an awareness of nature, but they have very different atmospheres. The Koshino house is structured like a Japanese garden whereas the Eames House is like an art gallery where the art is the view from the window which is a meadow. In concussion to this thought, I think that the Koshino house better fits in with the landscape than the Eames house, but the Eames house maybe more about bringing the real of being outside

The House on Mango Street is in a poverty- stricken neighborhood in Chicago. That is where Esperanza Corderos and her family moved to. When the Corderos family lived in a house on Loomis, a nun (working at Esperanza’s school) was in disbelief when Esperanza pointed out where she and her family had lived. The way the nun acted affected Esperanza, making her feel dissatisfied and embarrassed of where she was living. Esperanza could not wait to move again. Esperanza describes the new house stating “ Bricks are crumbling in places, and the front door is so swollen you have to push hard to get in”. Her dream house would have working pipes, a basement, more than one bathroom, and real stairs. The house might not be perfect as the dream house she…

Most people are not aware of how many different styles of houses there are in the world. The style of house varies due to its time of origin and country of origin. For example, a house in Moscow in 1980 will differ from a house in Chicago 2012 because the cultures and beliefs are different. There were also many architectural advances between 1980 and 2012. Things change over time and like the differences between the two time periods, the houses in Quincy are different from other houses around the country. These factors are important to keep in mind when evaluating the architecture of a house.…

Robert Venturi was only thirty-four when he was requested by his mother to design and build a house for her. Up until this time all of Venturi’s designs had been mostly theoretical. He was now given a chance to make them concrete.2 It could be understood that Robert’s mother’s house was designed to help him with his career; he was given an opportunity to design and construct a building instead of writing and teaching about them. The Vanna Venturi House was to be Robert Venturi’s first building. Like many architects he was driven to test his ideas through construction.3 The house went through six basic schemes and six models were made to clearly exhibit the form of the house and Venturi’s evolving ideas.4…
