Jonas’s and our society is different.
In the giver there rules on bikes, clothing choice, and lying are all unalike from our society.
Though Jonas’s society has similar aspects, there are many differences.

One thing that is different in their society is their rules in bikes

When you are a nine, in their society, you receive a bike and you are not allowed to use one until then. In our society we can get a bike whenever our parents and we choose. Some kids will teach their siblings how to ride before nun but if they get caught they will get in trouble.

Are society allows us to wear, for the most part, anything we would like. It's not only private schools who are required to wear “uniform” like clothing in their society they have to wear them all of the time.
We don't, at least in the USA, have to wear certain clothing unless it is part of your job’s or school’s rules.

Rules on lying are also very different between the too societies.

In jonas’s society lying was not acceptable at all and was against the rules that's why when jonas was told he could lie he was shocked. Here we don't have any actual rules or laws on lying other than common sense that it can hurt people.
Lying in the givers society was considered wrong, but they would tell small little lies to make pain more tolerable as they were told to do by the elders.
Lying is something so people might do on a daily basis. And much like Jonas's society it is used to ease the pain one might feel from hearing the truth.
CONCLUSION
Rules on bikes, lying and clothing are all examples of how are and jonas’s societies are different.
Should all of our decisions be made for us or should we have freedom on what we can
