their inner was very dark. Mr Kurtz has also developed a strong sense of power in the region in which he lives, and over the natives like Jack’s control on the boys. He shows his sense of ownership of things by repeatedly saying “My ivory, my intended, my station, my river etc” (shamsher gondal, et al). The way Kurtz talking shows that everything belongs to him.
Mr Kurtz unspeakable rites and his midnight dance can be comparing to the mock-hunt arranged in the chieftainship of Jack. Jack and his hunters in a mood of wilderness killed Simon, and Kurtz also in unspeakable rites and midnight dance begun to take pleasure in human sacrifices, in the shedding of blood of human being, in sexual orgies, in sexual perversion and other similar practices. Like Jack, Mr Kurtz begun to gratify all his various lusts and all his monstrous passions. The pig’s head offered by Jack to beast as a gift can be comparison to the heads of human beings which Mr Kurtz had hanged around his hut, “they would have been even more impressive, those heads on stakes, if their faces had not turned to the houses” (shamsher gondal, et al). Mr Kurtz would cut up the head of those who dare to contradict him. In this respect Kurtz and Jack go side by side and parallel. Regarding Piggy’s death by Roger, which can be attributed to Jack, can be compared to the murders of natives by the hands of Kurtz.
The words “kill the beast, cut his throat, spill his blood” (Golding) by boys can be compare to “exterminate all the brutes” (shamsher gondal, et al) by Kurtz. Kurtz’s mind here is fully grasped by evil instinct. Another thing that is common in both Jack and Kurtz is singing. Jack while arguing for chieftainship says “I can sing C sharp” (Golding), likewise Russian says about Kurtz “Kurtz’s own poetry has enlarged his min, not only that but he can paints and he is a musician also” (shamsher gondal, et al).
Every person in his life ought to gain self knowledge through different experiences.
The knowledge gained from experiences becomes a guide line for the upcoming age. This self knowledge gained by Ralph and piggy in a deserted island of Lord of the Flies can be compared to the knowledge gained by Marlow in Congo. Ralph and Piggy gained self knowledge and prevent the darkness to overcome them. They both represent order, law, civility and goodness. Ralph was fair hair, good looking and civilized boy. At the beginning he discovered Conch which summoned all the boys at the island. Ralph was elected as chief because he was deeply concerned about the welfare of all the boys and he was democratic in his outlook and thirdly he had collected all the boys by blowing the conch. After that he called several meetings for to choose certain rules while living in an uninhabited island. He said that anyone who wish to suggest something in meeting, he will raise his hand and I will hand over the conch to him. Nobody is allowed to speak if he has not the conch in his hand. After that he suggested to burn a fire, for the purpose to catch the attention of the sailors. Ralph then suggested building huts for the purpose of safety. His tendencies were totally towards the help of mankind. He represents the principle of good as against the principle of evil. He stands for the values of civilization as against the way of savagery. He stands for progress and advancement as against the
way of primitivism. He love order and discipline and hats disorder lawlessness and anarchy.
