Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to conduct a comparison of three articles previous examined. The articles:
1. Wright & Pandey, (2010), Transformational Leadership in the Public Sector: Does Structure Matter?
2. Emery & Barker, (2007) The Effect of Transactional and Transformational Leadership Styles on the Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction of Customer Contact Personnel, and
3. Shukla (2004) Effect of Product Usage, Satisfaction and Involvement on Brand Switching Behavior.
Comparison of the Research Questions Posed in the Studies
Authors Wright and Pandev in article 1, present questions around the behavior of leaders in the organization. Unlike the questions posed in articles 2 and 3, the writers in article 1 are questioning what actions are being taken by leaders, and what methods are being forged by these leaders to effect a change. How leaders demonstrate charismatic behavior and how followers perceive and act toward the leader are focal questions.
The questions in articles 2 and 3 are posed around not behavior/actions of the leaders, but instead around programmatic methodologies which impact the desired result. Emery and Barker question whether charisma be learned. The study also questions the impact of training of employees on the satisfaction of customers. Likewise, Shukla poses question focus on condition rather than behavior. Shukla in article 3 poses the questions: “Does involvement in a product necessarily relate to the price?” and How are people influenced by advertising and mass media?”
Comparison of the Sample Population Used
The sample populations in articles 1 and 2 are more credible and reliable in that the sample populations included 1,322
