To have bipedalism you have to have the ability to walk upright. According to the text, History Alive it states that “As scientists assembled the bones, they observed that these hominids (Homo Erectus) stood upright.” This is important because this shows that around two million years ago people were able to walk on 2 feet and use their hands for other things. For us modern humans, we are able to walk on our two feet and are able to walk for long periods of time. For hominids and today’s humans, we are able to walk on two
feet.
A tool is a instrument used in the performance task. According to the text, History
Alive “Homo Habilis (Handy Man) tools were very simple. These hominids used rocks as chopping tools. They made sharp pieces of stone for cutting. They used animal bones as digging sticks.” This is important because this shows that since the trees died off which made them have the ability to use their legs to walk (bipedalism) and which would free up their hands.to make tools. For hominids and today’s humans, we both are able to use our hands for more things.
The ability to use language is sets of sounds, gestures, and symbols that allows people to communicate. According to the text, History Alive it states “Scientists believe that Neanderthals had a sense of community.This is important because since they were able to make tools they had to communicate to everyone else to tell them how to make them and what they are used for. For hominids and today's humans, without language we wouldn't be able to do lots of things.
The ability to walk on 2 feet, toolmaking, and language has changed our lives form the Australopithecus Afarensis to us humans today.
