Like Mildred, a lot of people now seem to be more into watching television than before. Whether on their laptops, cellphones, or tablets, people will find a way to binge watch their favorite show, or watch their favorite movie(s)that they can get from multiple entertainment providers. Evidence to support this can be found when Montag asks Mildred “Will you turn the parlour off?” (Bradbury 52) and Mildred replies with “That’s my Family” (Bradbury 52). One of these differences would be the fact that in the book, firemen were basically responsible for starting fires by burning books. Today however, firemen are responsible for taking out and preventing fires from happening. Evidence from the book to prove that firemen start fires instead of preventing them would be when Clarisse asks Montag, “Do you ever read any of the books you burn?” (Bradbury 12). This evidence helps to support because Clarisse, knowing Montag is a firefighter, asks hims about burning books which would imply him starting fires. According to MetroWest Daily News, firefighters respond to “a total of 727,626 calls, 693,099 of which were not fires”. This proves that firefighters not only prevent fires but they also do a lot more to help the community stay
