Competative
Being competitive or inappropriately taking credit for group work should not be a accepted practice, taking credit from your peers leaves feelings of animosity because after a person has taken the time and efforts to research work and data and studied material in order to complete given assignments, it would stand a disservice to not only your peers, but you as well. Not only does it rob the person taking the credit of the learning experience but it also rob the person that did the work the chance to have criticism and praise given to them for work that they have done. Being dishonest and taking credit for another’s work is also a violation of the school’s academic standards. It also creates bad morale within the group.
It can also lead to being aggressive: pushing too hard, dominating, and insisting on your own way. This is also a practice that can cause discord within the group. Possessing these traits does not allow room for others to offer their ideas and input in order for the group to have successful information and an organized presentation.

Moreover, José Galindez, Jenny Gil and Zugeiry Rodríguez resulted in cautious style. People with dominance style tend to take control of the situations provided. They like to do many things at once so they do not focus on one thing. They are also people who like challenges and don’t care to meet them. Also, if they have to break the rules they will proceed that way. They work fast, therefore, get upset when there is a delay or a task can’t be completed.…

We are third (or fourth) year students, so you can say that everybody knows how to work in a project group. However, this doesn’t mean that everybody will act like that. Sometimes there are people in a group who are less motivated then others, or people who are dealing with personal problems. Everybody has their own role/function within the project. To make sure everybody performs…

Homework assignments and projects will be group work. But, no free riders please! Every one in the group should contribute equally. Even though in general each member in a group will get the same grade as others, if a certain member did not do his/her share, the other group members could remove him/her from the group and this individual would obtain zero grade. The instructor may also demand the group members to state their individual contributions to the project/assignment in order to determine a fair distribution of the grades.…

One of the most difficult challenges I have ever faced is Mario. There I said it. It’s a virtual world where you’re supposed to beat a huge, magical, dragon with multiple lives and unlimited resources. I get killed by the walking turtle that was clearly ahead of me. However unrealistic this scenario may be, there are some real life aspects. Each of us, like Mario, has to overcome a series of obstacles before we can accomplish our goals. Paul Ryan is no exception. The road he has traveled to get to the point he is at and the one he has yet to embark upon is like a Mario game, full of obstacles.…

The primary focus of this behavioral style is a no nonsense approach which shows no fear in bending the rules while accepting challenges and problem-solving. The Dominance style member of our group, Terry, is most comfortable when in charge of people or situations due to being goal oriented and exhibiting a desire to achieve. This individual is quick and self motivated and enjoys working alone. She is often a perfectionist and has little tolerance for slower or less adept individuals. This individual 's strength lies in her ability to take charge and to make decisions. Weaknesses noted for the dominant style are as follows: impatient, non-flexible, and lack of sensitivity toward others.…

Initially, I had a negative view on group working because of the challenges that I had. When I was in high school, my five other friends and I used to work together in a music competition. Although we were supposed to get together to practice for the event, we were only able to meet up once a week. In addition to having a hard time with time scheduling, we often did not have a consensus of opinion. Whenever we had a discussion, we usually ended up with no results. So it always took a long time for us to make a decision. Consequently, the performance did not turn out as well as we expected. Because of this initial failure, I thought group work was time consuming and ineffective. However, I have changed my opinion lately because of the successful results in some of my laboratory classes. In each laboratory assignment, it is nearly impossible to work by myself because there are a lot of steps and each step needs to be very precise and accurate. Therefore, a group of two or three students will work more effectively compared to an individual because they can help to remind each other and finish the assignment faster. Based on those experiences, one more time I give myself a chance to work in a group and figured out how work effectively. Finally, thank to the Small group communication class, I found out that group work can become very productive if all the members in the group cooperate and follow the principles of small group communication. In this paper, I want to talk…

Throughout college I have worked in many different groups for various reasons. My experience of group work has been 90% positive. One reason I feel my group work experience has been so great is because of the fact while working with other students my work has been of greater quality. Working with others always allows me to come up with greater ideas and attain negative or positive feedback. After reading the first few chapters of, In mixed company: Communicating in small groups and teams, I realized this group dynamic is known as synergy. For a better understanding synergy is when a “group performance meets or exceeds expectations of what would happen if done individually”. The end work is usually greater than the sum of its individual parts.…

    Teams in the 21st Century

I work in a team every day at work. Our jobs consist of teams, teamwork, and communication. I could not perform my job without working as a team. I also worked in a small group in my last class. Our assignment was shortened because we split the work among each other and that made the job easier. I had a great experience working with my learning team because we communicated with each other, made sure everyone understood their part, and came together at the end and collaborated and put everyone’s opinion together. The outcome was great. I learned a great deal from my group. I learned that it’s ok to work with other people, listen to their theories, and depend on the integrity of their work. I was surprised at how differently each person view the same situation.…
