I took the appropriate procedures of the school district and legal responsibility as a special education teacher to assist the student to remain accountable for her behavior. When she was able to collect her 10 starts she was explained why she did not receive them and when she did receive them I took the same procedures of explaining to the student. Explaining to the reasoning of the token board allowed the student to have an understanding of her behavior. Eventually, the student was able to explain her own behavior and the reason of why she did or did not receive a star. Using a behavior plan to support the student increase her completion of work and ability to remain focus on lessons. Introducing the token board to the student and adults inside the classroom demonstrates how competency 5.6 was enforced to keep the student accountable with all the adults the student interacts. Each adult knew the expectations for the student, but also how as a team the student can receive the needed support. Competency 5.4 keeps the special education accountable of implementing the behavior support that follows the school policies. The token board procedures were attached to the students IEP and explained to the parents regarding of how it will support the student. The token board it a positive behavior support which motivates the students to decrease the amounts they participate in the off-task behavior. Implementing a behavior plan motived the student to eliminate the off-task behavior demonstrates the effective method of the token board.
