Competency Goal 1
In order to establish and maintain a safe, healthy, learning environment, I do the following: I always check and clean the classroom for safety and teach them to be safe. In health i promote exercise and teach healthy eating habits. Lastly in the learning environment I like to do that in a fun matter because my kids love to have fun and it captures their attention. To keep a safe classroom my goal is that I'm always checking my classroom and its surroundings sp that there free from of harm and to prevent accidents from occurring. To meet those goals I set my classroom organized so no one gets hurt and check the toys to see if there not broken or loose to prevent accidents as well. I provide them with knowledge of how and what we have to do be safe in fire and tornado emergency and we do drills. I make sure that every student of mine is always signed in and out by their parent or guardian. I check the classroom for safety plugs in the wall outlets, that all the toys are sanitized as well as mats, tables, chairs. To establish a healthy classroom I provide an environment full of nutrition and to prevent the spread of disease. This means we offer a healthy snack during different times of the day. They are getting a balanced meal and right size portions for their age group. I have my students wash their hands several times of the day to wash the germs off and prevent sickness. I always teach them and reinforce how to wash their hands with every student. I also clean the toys and centers so that germs won't be there and if I see a child put a toy in their mouth I take it and clean and leave it to the side to air out. We also do exercise to be healthy we go outside twice a day and we have 15 minutes of free play and 15 minutes of structured play. To promote a creative learning I provide my students with many activities throughout the day. We have different learning centers for the children to explore and learn in.
